On 9th February we – 10º7- visited “Casa-Museu Medeiros e Almeida in Lisbon in order to complete and enrich our research for our project work “30 Anos a Ser Fernão”. Our project aims to explore the ancient relations between Portugal and China portrayed in Peregrinação by Fernão Mendes Pinto.
We had the most amazing experience in this museum: we were offered the opportunity to really “visit China” and admire its most precious objects and other eastern ones.
None of us will ever forget the way our Portuguese clocks were creatively decorated by them, their beautiful fans, the symbolic dragons and the unforgettable Nanban screens – “the most beautiful objects in the museum” some students said – things that “had never crossed our minds”.
We learned a lot of new things, we took lots of photos for our project and we had fun. We travelled by bus and we had a great time, it was a different lesson.
Our opinion is that the visit to this museum is highly recommended to the ones who are interested in Chinese culture.
But if you can’t go there, just wait for our final work to be presented in “Semana do Patrono”. “We won’t disappoint you – it’s a promise!”
